Hello,
I have a PS240A-OOUHNP that does'nt allow me to have more than 512mb of ram memory. I have tried fitting 2 x 1 gig ram, and the operating system says no more than 512mb
QUESTION
can I override The operating system to get the old girl to accept my 2 x 1 gig chips?

Solution
Not unless that system has a BIOS update that will allow the increased capacity, but I highly doubt it. More likely than not, there is a chipset limitation that restricts your maximum memory. Sorry, this is common in older systems. I have an old Sony (my wife used while she was in graduate school) that has a similar limitation. There is no way to override.
