Asus 1201n vs. Warcraft 3! Huge load times! Why?

Sorry about my english... it's not my primary language...

I recently bought a Asus 1201n... and installed Warcraft III on it...
The issue is... Dota takes 40 seconds to load (and about 20s on my old notebook - Celeron M, Intel Integrated Graphics and 1GB of RAM)...

So... how could this be happening...

Obs: the Asus is formatted, clean, newest drivers are installed...
any one knows the cause of this...?

My fear is that NVIDIA did not fixed correctly a problem they had with 9400M and Blizzard games (SC2, War3, WOW) that burn'd'up some cards... so they altered the drivers for that not to happen but downgrade the performance over Blizzard games...

Well, the trouble with the 1201n is that it is a netbook, not a full fledged laptop. Netbooks aren't designed to play games like WoW, etc.... Sure they can handle them at low settings, but it will not get any better. Remember, the atom processors aren't anywhere near a full fledged laptop CPU or even the GPU.

This is not the case... the netbook specifications are VERY ok... inside the game everything runs smoth...

Other games are very OK... the problems are just with WarCraft 3...

Why... don't anser me blaming a dual core Atom with 2Gigs of RAM... thats MORE THAN ENOUGH to play war3

i have a mini-itx desktop with same hardware and this is what i've discovered:
1: warcraft 3 isn't optimized for Atom.
2: warcraft 3 isn't optimized for dual core.
3: warcraft 3 doesn't recognize the video card: run in software mode.

Resolving those problems is possible "half way".
- before starting the game, press right-click on the warcraft exe you use. Then go in "proprieties" and set in compatibily mode the following values:
a: run optimized for Xp sp3
b: disable desktop drawing (i use windows in another language)
c: disable desktop effects
d: run as admin.

-then in the SHORTCUT/LINK tab (when you see the icon) you have to add -hwtnl or -swtnl (try both) at the end of "destination" like that:
"C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Frozen Throne.exe" -hwtnl

then press OK and start the game.

anyway i play at 1024x768 with all low graphic (beside shadows) to have a smooth dota game (between 20 and 35 fps) and it's the best values i've reached.

i wonder if the new Asus 1215n with D525 (1.8ghz dual core atom) and ION2 (nvidia GT218) with 4gb ram will run war3 better.

anyway remember that the HUGE difference are:
1: windows xp mode
2: -hwtnl or -swtnl (HardWare Transform aNd Lighting - SoftWare Transfor aNd Lighting)

try to modify the other values and use an "DOTA AI MAP" to test the game before play on internet.

The thing is... my friend have the same netbook as I do... an Asus 1201n

The diferences are:
HD size -
My friend 1201n: 160gb
My 1201n: 250gb

DDR2 latency times -
My friend 1201n: 4 - 4 - 4 - 12
My 1201n: 5 - 5 - 5 - 15

Does this small diference between DDR2 latency times could make my computer that slow?

Sorry about my bad english.

Nah...
i don't think the latency make a huge different.
you could use -opengl flag (just like -hwtnl) and test it.
i got around 40 to 50 while idle and 20 something when at war...
for big battle it will lag a bit...
hope it helps... :D

ah... i forgot to tell you...
there will be a line glitch in the menu but i think if you look for performance, just use opengl flag...
