The title is pretty self-explanatory. I run Ubuntu 10.04 on my Acer laptop, and I can't get the microphone to work. I've tried recording with audacity, and the standard sound recorder that Ubuntu comes with, and can't get anything. Help?
I think you need to go to control panel and set the microphone to default device, that's what I remember cause windows originally select high definition audio input as default and render the mic useless

He is using Ubuntu not windows. But the smae thing probbaly applies there is a configuration somewhere which you can specify the recording device. Sorry I dont know to much about Linux settings
