Core 2 duo laptop package for $300, is it a good buy?

I am in the market for a cheap laptop. So, I was on ebay the other day and saw this being auctioned.

Is this a good buy? or should I just spend more money on a new core i3 laptop? any help would be great.

At that price I think you should go with the core 2 duo. The main differences are that the i3 will be faster, produce less heat, be easier to overclock, and won't be as loud.
