Is this a good home theater system?

cannot view shopping links..

but in general most home theater in a box (htib) setups will work and sound okay but construction quality is usually poor and upgradeability is severely lacking. you would be lucky to get a few input ports for other perepheral devices on the control unit of most htibs.

search for a review on amazon or other shopping site for the model and read the reviews. just remember not to expect too much if its a cheap unit.

For what it is you would be doing fine. The important thing is that it has an optical digital input so you can connect the audio output of the TV to it. Many do not have this input and you have to buy adapters to get it to work. As ssddx says don't expect much in the way of great fidelity or longevity.
