Convert audio revox a77 to digital

Hello, I need to convert anolog audio from a Revox A77 possibly to an Apple mac through an USB port, any suggestion to which interface could be most appropriate.

You need a professional A to D convertor w/ USB output, OR
You need a program, such as "sound forge" and record into the 3.5MM audio input...

I mean whether you convert it externally, and use USB, or use analog inputs 3.5MM, and let the computer convert it to MP3, or whatever, maybe the same result?
That's why soundforge, 3.5 MM analog in might work...other than external A to D convertor.
