System recovery for toshiba satellite A65 laptop

how do I do a system recovery for a toshiba satellite A65 laptop with windows xp? (2002) no recovery disc...even if I had it the computer doesn't recognize the CD drive....one of the reasons I need to do the system recovery...other reason..no sound. thanks very much

Not sure if the trick works on older Toshiba laptops but on newer models i believe you power off the laptop completely -> hold down the '0' (number zero) key while turning the laptop back on (power button) -> release '0' key once the Toshiba laptop appears. This should bring up the recovery partition loader and allow you to restore the laptop to factory configuration - NOTE if this works it will completely wipe all data / programs you may have installed since you bought the laptop.
