First off, this is probably a stupid question, but I would rather know for sure before I buy something and end up not being able to use it.

I am in the market for a set of external speakers for my newly ordered desktop build. The current ones I am looking at output 200W. Do external speakers come from your PSU that you get for your computer? or are they a separate wattage. I ask this because I bought an 850W PSU, but if this 200W stacks onto that then I would go over my limit. I really am not sure.

Solution
Most(probably all) speakers for computers are self powered. So they don't use the power from the PSU. If the speakers aren't powered, you would need an amp to drive the speakers.
