I'm planning some CAD, some Photography, Financial modeling and some gaming.

Again though, I need to know which specific models of the Precision (M2400, 4500 or 6500) and which Elitebook you are looking at. What screen size do you want? What price range are you looking at?

As for your original question: Generally a workstation class laptop will come with a Profession series graphics card. Either a Quadro from NVidia or a FirePro from ATI. These are better at CAD and rendering than a gaming class GeForce or Radeon and also a bit more expensive. At the same time you lose some of your ability to play games. Although the Pro cards are pretty much based on their gaming card counter parts, they have special drivers that allow them to perform better in OpenGL applications like CAD. They are not so good for games.
