Audio pin cable subwoofer

My older sony subwoofer which does not plug in, only has a +/- speaker wire connection. My new Yamaha receiver needs a audio pin cable to attach the subwoofer to it. What is the solution?

Hi Just had the same problem with my TANNOY sub,my fix was to take an audio cable (black&white phono) connect white or black to sub out on amp and white to woofer (black or white they are joined in the sub) then test with vol down then turn up in steps.I found speaker cable would NOT work.
