DVI-HDMI connector

Hello,I have an old monitor (1080p) with VGA and DVI connectors, both are non HDCP compliance, what options do I have to connect my Blue Ray player with HDMI connector? I tried HDMI to DVI cable adapter but I got no image, do I have to try HDMI to VGA converter?
