I agree with WR2. The Velociraptor is about twice as thick as a conventional 2.5'' laptop drive. I don't think it'd fit. It'd also run a bit warmer, so that would be another consideration.
No; the physical dimensions are too different.

thanks for your answers guys. I was hoping it would, but I saw it seemed to be thicker and the fit on the hd in the laptop is too tight to make it work even without the little hd bracket cover thing. It was fun to think about though.

I bought one anyway to use as an external esata drive. Then I found out my esata port on the ASUS g51J-A1 does not work. I had a chat session with the Asus support and basically the guy says "please use your usb port instead if your esata port does not work". Doi...I'm still infuriated when I think about it. updated my bios and tried two different cables, but no go. Then the guy hung up the chat session when I asked for his name and employee number!

I love my asus g51 especially for working on vm's and supreme commander , but that support chat really dissapointed me.
