I'm not sure if it's possible but I think if it is, it will be very expensive. I think the best thing to do is to check how much it's going to cost. Brands like panasonic and lg offer tvs at an affordable price and getting a tv from them might just have the same cost as repairing your old tv. If you want a 42" again I'd advise you to get lcd- led rather than plasma. Plasma is better when it's 55" and up. Check lg's 2012 models should you consider buying a new one. Here in the US, we can get a smart 3d tv from lg for less than $1000.

I agree with the above poster...although it is possible to get the screen repaired, you might be better off trying to find a good deal on a new HDTV. There are some great 42" LED's from Samsung, LG, Sharp, etc. available at the moment for reasonable prices (some are around $500 or less if you search a bit).
