I5 430 processor running at half speed

Hi

I have an acer 5740g notebook with i5 430m processor running at 2.26GHz.

Now when i ran cpu z, it reported core speed of 1330 Mhz. But shouldn't my processor run at 2260MHz.

Please advice.

Put your CPU under a load and see what happens.

It's a feature called Speedstep, in the BIOS it shows as EIST. It basically throttles your CPU down when it isn't being used so as to cut down on heat output and energy use. See here: http/www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/asmo-na/eng/203838.htm
