Gaming Headset/Soundcard questions

Hi yall, yesterday I asked what people would recommend as the best gaming headset under $70 and then I realized I provided very little information or options for people to help me out with.


Currently, I don't have a soundcard but I was looking at this one as a cheapie-but-goodie, so I wanted to know what you guys think of it:

And for a headset, I'm turn between the Steel Series, Turtle Beach and fata1ity routes. I'd like 5.1 surround sound, if possible for the money, but I could do with 2.1 also if its a lot cheaper.
