CPU Temps going up and down quickly

Hello,

I have a problem with my dell d600, I recently took it apart to clean out the fan and also remove the mouse touch pad, since it was not working properly.

Now though my cpu Temps seem to go alot higher than they did before (normally at 100% cpu it would not go above 60oc) but now it goes all the way up to 85oC. Also it does cool back down to 40oC very fast, but i am a little confused as to what i could have done wrong.

The Heatsink is in contact with the processor so i know thats not it, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I would take it apart enough to watch the CPU fan with the laptop running. does the fan cycle speeds up and down rapidly? If so what might be happening is that there is a spot in the bearings of the fan where it is sticking slightly, thus it slows way down and then speeds back up to normal speed. This can happen if you blow canned air on the fan and let it just spin. This can overspeed the fan and cause it to have bearing issues.
