I picked up that laptop for 175€.

these are the specs

RAM: 2G
cpu: Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.46 GHz, T2310;
HDD: 160 GB (5400 rpm);
Placa de som: 3D Sound Blaster Pro compatible sound 16 bit integrated;
GPU: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X31

do you think ill notice a big performance boost from my previous Dell D610?

Dell specs
Intel p M 1.76
1024 ram
40GB
intel GMA 915
----------------------
or my EEEPC 1000H?
atom 1.6
1024
160gb
gma 945

also i found this cpu LINK

can i use it on the HP G7000? what other cpus can i use?

this would be a huge help for me, thank you so much for reading

if you are using xp on all three, you will not notice a very large perfromance difference between the dell and the hp. however, if you are using vista or windows 7on both the dell and the hp, then the hp would be an enormous improvement, because it has two cpu cores and twice the memory. what os do u use on the netbook?

the hp laptop MAY NOT be able to support that cpu. plz tell me what the chipset is and i will find out for you. even if it does support it, thats a lousy cpu!

First, find which exact model of the G7000 you have HERE. From there, you should be able to find out which chipset it uses.

Then, go to Intel's site (HERE) and under Chipsets, find the one that's inside your laptop. On that page, you should find out which processors the chipset supports.

good point. sorry i dont think it is compatible.
core 2 duos are ridiculously expensive for the fact that now theyre making i3s it is crazy. what about ebay???
the pentium dualcore series are actually pretty bad. any core2duo cpu is, in my opinion, a heckuva lot better than any pentium dualcore or celeron dualcore...

yeah i think so too, c2duo are way better, but im not a very demanding guy when it comes to cpu power, my main computer is a Amd 3600+ X2 and i think its still prety decent, if i could get something that give me the same speed i would be very happy...

is anything that has that processing power in this list?

http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=28117

i would go for that...thanks!

ok thank you so much for your help!!!

ive made some digging and found that the T2310 is a pentium M dual core, so just to be sure that it will run ill get a cpu from this list...

http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?familyId=41878

im almost positive that this will run on the motherboard, i just dont know if it has to be 533FSB or if it supports 667, ill have to wait until the computer arrives so i can make up my mind...

anyway thank you for your help i really apreciate your patience!! :D

sorry for the double post but i cant edit posts....

just wanted to say that i think i finally found the chipset on the HP G7000 with a gma X3100 its a GL960 chipset that only supports 533 FSB

ill leave info here so if someone else needs it its here...

The Mobile Intel® GL960 Express Chipset, featuring the Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, delivers

Microsoft Windows Vista* Premium support with the highest level of Microsoft Windows Aero* experience
Intel® Clear Video Technology for excellent video quality
Enhanced 3D graphics performance, delivering over 2X scores on 3DMark*06Δ
The Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset features dual-channel DDR2 memory, 533 MHz system bus, PCI Express* x1 I/O port, Serial ATA, and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity
.

so this means that only cpus with 533FSB are compatible that means that all other CPUs, Core 2 Duo or Core Duo are out of the picture...only these are supported:

Intel® Pentium® Processor T2390 (1M Cache, 1.86 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2370 (1M Cache, 1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2330 (1M Cache, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2310 (1M Cache, 1.46 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2130 (1M Cache, 1.86 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2080 (1M Cache, 1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® Processor T2060 (1M Cache, 1.60 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)

List got from here:
http://ark.intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?familyId=41878

I discovered that my chipset was the GL960 because thats the only Intel 96X chipset that only supports 2GB of ram

FSB Speed 533MHz
Number of Memory Channels 2
Max Memory 2 GB

http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=26558

thank you very much for the help i hope this info help someone else

pentiums are pathetic. LOL. they are two normal pentium cores slapped ont one chip, and with the slow fsb that creates one lousy chip...
