New battery slows down computer

I installed a new battery on a Toshiba Satellite L350D-S5881. Whenever I go on-line, it slows way down. I put the old battery back in and the problem went away. The issue is that I need the new battery as the old one wont hold a charge. I tried to change to high performance, didn't work. I am running Windows Vista- Home edition.

Did you get the battery frrom a legit supplier?

You didn't try getting some cheap generic one did you?
