ok so i recently came into possession of of a Logitech z640 subwoofer. how do i connect this to the computer? what type of cable do i need?

It's a proprietary system that needs all the speakers connected to function. The controls are not on the sub woofer.
You might be able to modify the sub for an external amplifier, thats about it, to connect it to your computer without the rest of the logitech system speakers connected.

heres an instruction set for the sub woofer+ speakers. are you sure it requires the whole set to work? i was thinking i could just get a dsub to 3.5mm adapter like this

http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-42165-RapidRun-Adapter/dp/B001AJQ7XO

do you think that might work?

also on a 6 port sound card is there a port for the subwoofer or does it go into the same one as the speakers.

the only reason i could see that not working is because the cord on the instructions manual has 3 connectors and the one on Amazon has only 1. but i cant find any with 3 for sale
