T.v picture changing from color to black and white

my 15 yr. old t.v. flicks back and forth between color and black and white.what is a possible cause? is is worth having it repaired?

The cords loose. I can do the same with a composite cable. Black and white requires less bandwidth. So if it loses bandwidth it will default to black and white to have some picture. Tighten the cord.
