I'm going to be doing little to no gaming, web surfing, light photo editing and some music production. Mostly using the laptop to watch movies, surf the web, and word processing.

I want to know for overall quality of the laptops which is better. The HP seems a bit flimsy. And is the HP worth the $49.

I would go with the Dell, if I were you. The i5 will be enough for light music production and editing, and the 4670 is the stronger GPU, which is what will matter in the long run.
