Dell/inspiron 1200/backlight

lights come on when i first start up
dell logo then win xp logo then it goes black
took the back off and used a desk light and i can login ran a systm test as i read on a differant forem page and got an error code
dst short statis test
1000-0142
msgi unit4
drive self test failed statis byte=89
dont know if that has to do with the light
i also hit the fn and f8 to redo it and sometimes it comes on foe a split second then goes back black

Sorry tracker, it's hard to understand what you were saying... but based on the codes you published here, I think you've got a problem with your electronic system?
