Xbox 360 and line in sound on pc

Hi,

So i bought a xbox 360 on Friday, hooked it up to my monitor and to the line on on my computer. I managed to get the sound to go through my headphones by selecting the listen to device in the line in properties.

The problem is now it doesn't work worked on Friday and from Saturday nothing i do will make it work.

I can play the sound through my speakers but when playing late at night it becomes a problem as my family really doesn't want to try sleep hearing gun shots from splinter cell.

So question is, is there anything i can do to make the sound go through my headphones again? They are usb headphones if it helps.

What kind of computer is it?
