Hello, Is there an economical way to record [both speeds[ of [home recorded] VHS tapes to a DVD for replay on the TV, without going through PC. My PC and TV are in separate rooms. I would also like to make recordings from the TV hard disc
MY video player has died and I am looking for a replacement. Advice appreciated

The simplest way is with the Dazzle DVD Recorder. You can plug this into any USB on your computer, connect and either burn to HD or DVD. I'm a big fan of it.

Try ebay. There are a lot of video players for sale there

You are talking about an archiving activity, old VHS tapes to record DVD, or are you talking about a live activity? VHS --> View on Modern Digital TV?

"recording from TV hard disc..." TV don't have hard disc unless you attached one over USB port and it's already saved, so I don't understand why you need to record it again.

Me think you are completely using the wrong terminologies making this a HUH?
