Hello, I have a Toshiba 57h84 big screen tv, when I turn it on I have dark vertical lines,and sometimes the picture is dark where you can barely see the picture. Appreciate any help in layman's terms

A lot of these tv's come up with bad surface-mounted capacitors on the "hyper" board, which can result in a black saw-tooth pattern or vetical black lines. It can be rebuilt, but for the price it is another big reason to retire this set.
