Solved! What causes white specs to be projected on the screen?

I have a Mitsubishi WD65734 and have noticed that two small white specs have appeared on the screen. They remain there after the picture has been turned off, until the unit powers off. Could it be dust somewhere? bulb, mirror, etc.

there is the possibility that the mirror could be dirty or defective. a lot of manufacturers use plastic mirrors that warp and crack over time.

but seriously, how do you turn the picture off without turning the television off?
do you mean the screen goes all black and you can still see the white specs?

i wouldnt rule out dust or pixels waiting and willing to dance
