How to fix usb ports that dont work

My Dell Latitude has a USB port that I plug my wired mouse into and it has worked since I bought the Dell about six months ago. Last night, all of a sudden it won't work. I was taking it over to my sister's to show her and my new wireless mouse didn't work either. It did work on her notebook and it lights up on mine. Any ideas?

Couldn't say for sure. My experience USB ports have a tenancy to unceremoniously go out (well, had a power surge fry some). It's only one that doesn't work? The something broke. If none of them work it COULD be a software issue or a HARDWARE issue. But seeing how its six months old, if you bought it new, Dell should zip bam bippity boppity boo fix it for ya.
