Iphone 3g Syncing

Well I just finished building my new comp and I want to sync my iphone to my computer. I was wondering if I do that would all my contacts be gone? I know it deletes everything like music and stuff but what bout contacts. ANd if it does how do I do it so I can save my contacts to my computer
