Free how to replace cmos gateway solo 2500

Wife needs this Gateway Solo 2500 for a presentation.
Computer needs new cmos b5787
How deep do I need to go to find location of cmos
Is it "relatively" simple to replace with a new b5787
or is there some kind of security clip or something
otherwise difficult to do?

If you do a google search for B5787, all information just points to your main battery... not a cmos battery. There should be a slide clip on the bottom of the case (maybe a couple screws as well), that will unlock the battery and then you can slide it out, and replace it with a new battery.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
However, not the regular battery that needs to be replaced,
perhaps I am using the wrong term. The computer needs to have
the little battery that is used to tell the computer how to boot up
once the power on button is pressed.

Any ideas about where it is located?
and if it can be replaced easily?

What issues are you having with the computer that make you think you need to replace the cmos battery?
In order to find and replace it you would likely need to disassemble most of the computer. The battery is about the size of a nickel and would be located on either the top or bottom side of the motherboard.

Thanks, the prompt read something like, can't load system, computer is old
and was being used alot over the summer without any problems, so I figured
the cmos went bad.
What do you think?

you should check again what the prompt says, could also be an issue with the harddrive.

if it is the cmos battery then it is gonna be a major pain in the @@@ to change, as already stated it is a watch battery on the MB and some are soldered on

I doubt your battery is the problem ,what are the exact error messages and what have you tried to solve it

FYI
though slightly inconvenient it is entirely possible to run a computer with a dead CMOS battery, and that would be my recommendation if it is in fact the problem

And I can go thru Main, Advanced Security Power set-up menus, the only
thing I've done is change to todays time and date. It now asks if I want
to save all set-up changes to CMOS. What do you think I should do?
