Speaker System 7.1 for dvd player

Hi,my friend has a dvd player and wants a decent sound system 7.1, for under $100. Is it possible to connect speakers not designed for a dvd instead a computer. like a t7900? or megaworks?

use a third party connector device. or if you have a computer attach with the aux option. the t7900's are pretty impressive if you dont need a big bagn cinema system for under 100bucks. if you got a nice sound card thats a + point rather than using on onboard chip.
