I have to restart laptop to show display on tv

Here is my issue.... I have a Philips 42 inch lcd, I have hooked my laptop with windows 7 up to tv with a hdmi cable, it looks great! The issue is if i change input by changing channel or turning off TV, but going back to the input i was on with a beautiful picture the display goes away, the tv says no signal. I have to restart computer for display to come back up...very very annoying. I cant seem to find a setting that will fix problem...any ideas?

I have the same problem with a new homebuilt htpc. Every time we change the input or power down the tv we have to unplug the hdmi cable and plug it back in.

Onboard 4200 ati graphics for us...

well plugging cable back in dont work for me, i have to restart comp, but i have turned tv on and comp was still on screen, and a couple times ive changed inputs and nothing changed, so now it seems kinda speratic, but annoying all the same!
