I'm using the new WMP (think it's 11) and I burned one CD, and on the second I get an error message that says to be sure that the disk is clean or try a different brand of CD's. I know the CD is clean, brand new, and if it already burned one of the same kind of CD why wouldn't it burn another? My laptop is about 4 years old (HP) and this is actually the first time I've used it for burning anything. Please help!

I don't trust Windows built in facilities to burn disks -- mostly because I can't see what's going on.

Second possibility is that the hardware has failed -- CD burners don't last forever. Before you say; "......but I've never used it before" bear in mind that every time the computer has booted, the CD drive and its laser have been activated.

I would invest in some re-writable disks and give the thing a good testing.

Better still, look for a free CD/DVD writing program and try that instead of Windows or WMP.
