I am getting sound to my tv but not to the Denon receiver speakers

Cable box to Denon 1609 with HDMI
HDMI to Hitachi HD TV
I have sound on the tv but no sound on the Speakers.

If I use the tuner or the CD I have sound through the speakers,

I even went as far as to hook up the white and red sound into the tv/cable slot on the back of receiver from the cable box and still no sound

When I turn on the DVD I get sound but no picture? Doe my DVD have to be HDMI?

Cable out of wall to cable box - Hdmi cable from cable box to Denon receiver - Hdmi cable from Denon receiver to HD TV - you might not have Denon Receiver on the right channel for sound - check your settings - look at Denon manual or go online - Let me know if questions - GOOD LUCK!
