Used ot have a SB A2ZS. NEver had a problem with my microphone and the soundcard. Got this new one a whiel ago and never really had a need to use the mic, I was just starting college and didnt' really have time to play games anyway, so never hoenstly tired it out. They came with the Fatal1ty headset so I thought hey maybe its the headset, nope the old headset didnt' work. I've tried every damn sound option Vista has and I don't know what to do.

The headset works fine, just not the mic.

In the Recordings tab of the Sound window in the Vista Control Panal I have 4 options. Microphone FP (the fp is front port, as it says in properties, but I don't have any front port so I have no idea what this is). Then I have Line-In (what I think I should be using) it says its working, but no sound can get through. Then I have Digital-In and "What U Hear", I don't think tis either of those that I'm supposed ot use, but i've tried them both.

So if anyone has had any similiar problems please tell me what you did!

I've recently bought a SB X-Fi titanium soundcard and I'm having the exact same problem. Same 3 options: Microphone FP (wich i don't have) - and I've tried disableing it thinking vista may be giving it priority or something (not really a computer wiz here :p), Line-in (which it recognizes as being plugged in and processing but no sound goes through) and Digital-in (not using optical so this cant be it).

I know the headset works because I've been using it on my laptops ventrilo so thats out of the question. Checked the microphone levels several times and stil nothing.

Speakers work fine but the mic just wont let me input any sound. If somebody knows the solution to this please help us out!

Regards

Ok I've figured it out. You'll need to access the Creative Console Launcher (Start menu -> Programs -> Creative -> Sound Blaster X-Fi -> Creative Console Launcher). Go to settings (bottom middle of the window) and click the "Flexi Jack" tab. Activate the Microphone option instead of the Line-in. After that check the levels on the recording devices and it should be ready to go.Hope this helps.

I've had this exact problem for more than an year now, and still haven't managed to resolve it. Please help me, as I can't talk to my girlfriend ( ) via Skype, unless I use my laptop, which uses its integrated sound chip, nor I can communicate with other team members in Counter-Strike, etc.

I fully comprehend what am I supposed to do... I have to set the FlexiJack mode to Mic-In), but the problem is that... the Digital I/O is totally greyed out!

Speech recognition in Vista doesn't detect anything I say, it just shows some trembling blue sound level under the yellow-green-red box (which in turn is under the Peter dictates to his... text.

Why in the Game Mode is the Digital I/O greyed out?

It is almost two years after your post and I have been spending a month with Dell and Creative Tech Support about the same microphone issue. Neither of them had any clue about or could figure out this problem. Dell has been replacing my computer parts (including mother board) and resetting and reloading Windows, while Creative insisted it was a Dell issue. I found your post yesterday and my mic works now. Belated Thanks! (I wish the two companies knew the products they are selling).
