IR Ports Tivo / Cable Box

Just installed a comcast digital cable box and had a question regarding the IR ports.

TIVO has a IR out and Comcast has an IR in, Can I take a male to male connector wire and connect these together.

Otherwise I guess I have to take the TIVO IR cable and set it up as instructed but this is always a problem (works like 95% of the time and usually looks messy. I was hoping to make the connection wired and have superior IR control and less wires and stick on tape.

Try using a direct connect cable from the series 2 Tivo to control you DTA or cable box instead of the IR Blasters...

This is a good cable I use....

No you cant hardwire the two devices together with wire and plugs.. this actually has an IC chip inside to do the communications.
