ok, post number two. I asked a question farther down the page covering 720p vs 1080i, only to discover that even if it only says 720p, it probably supports 1080i as well.

I'm looking for a hdtv probably 19" - 24" mabye bigger if i can afford it. i'd say 90% of my tv use is with my ps3. blue-ray looks great on 1080p, but im broke so ill have to settle for 720p/1080i.

I'm hopeing somebody can give my a link to a site that explains how to pick out a new tv, or a site with a good selection of hdtv's. Any general knowledge on hd's would help.

one specific question though, for a lot of hdtv's it just says the resolution and doesn't say the 720p 1080i stuff so how do i know wat it supports.

oh yeah, i was hopeing to only spend $300 - $400, can you even get a decent hdtv for that price?

thanks.

The resolution is directly convertible to 1080p/720p. If it's 1920x1080, it's 1080p. Otherwise, if it is 1280x720 (or often 1366x768 or similar), it's 720P.

I don't think that 1080p is a must have in the sizes you are looking at. By the way the resolution quality starting at the lowest is
1. 480i
2. 480p
3. 1080i
4. 720p
5. 1080p
1080i only looks better than 720p when there is no motion. Only the native resolution counts since downconversion is very common.
