5.1 Surround not working right on Sony DA5300ES Receiver

I was wondering if there is an option I am missing but for some reason my DA5300ES receiver is not producing all the sounds for my PS3. There are times where there are supposed to be sound effects (or dialogue) that you can see the subtitle for but no sound from any of the speakers. I've also noticed this on a few movies and cannot figure out why it is doing it. I have my PS3 set up correctly, and I know all my speakers are hooked up fine (When I run test it utilizes them all). Also I cannot seem to get Pro Logic II with the red/white cable to work right either since sound only comes out of the right speaker.

For true 5.1 you'll need to make the jump to at the very least optical for sound. Red/white coaxial just won't cut it... PS3 has an optical out.
