Hey everyone,

It's been a while since I've been on here, but you guys have always helped me out before when I've had a question. I am trying to reinstall windows xp on a compaq nx7300 for a coworker of mine. I am using a Windows XP SP3 disc and I can boot the cd just fine and it loads all the setup files but then it just says there are no hard drives detected and to make sure I have everything plugged in correctly. My first thought was to just hit F6 at the beginning and load the RAID and SCSI drivers, but that didn't work either, same error message. I also tried to open the CD through the desktop, but after the laptop rebooted and tried to go into the install it would just stay on a black screen with a blinking underscore. I'm not to sure what the problem is, could it be because there is home edition on here now and I am trying to install professional sp3? Anyways, thanks in advance for your guys' help! ;)

It has to do with the sata drive... nothing else... I have the exact same laptop and error right now, but being an educated though somewhat rusty IT specialist, I know where the problem is, but like I said, I've gone a little rusty so I don't know how to fix it yet... looks like I'll be googling for the answer.

Win7 starter installs on it just fine though... but because of it's low ram, it runs extremely slow.
