I am trying to change the LCD on a Gateway Solo 9300. I found the following website that I thought would help.

http://test.leecomputers.com/9300disassembly.htm

but I am stuck on step one. I can not figure out how to "move the locking sliders".

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Thanks
Ginny

I assume they mean the plastic/metal clips on most notebook designs. In that case, they're a lot like the locking mechanism you can find on the battery compartment of a remote control.

Simply put a flathead screwdriver in between the keyboard and the chassis, and (gently) pry the clip out from the chassis. If you don't get what I mean, just take a screwdriver, find the slit to put it in, gently pry up a bit (or in any direction that will allow you to see a bit better) and take a look at what you're up against. Gently prying things and taking a good long look won't hurt the notebook, I promise, I've done it hundreds of times.

I have attempted the same procedure and could never, ever, ever get that stupid thing apart. Luckily the laptop eventually died and I was off the hook.
