Hi all, I am going to be buying an Alienware M9750 soon and would like to know if the T7200 Core 2 Duo 2.0 would be a fine choice for gaming. I am also getting my rig with the Nvidia's SLI 7950's and the 4gigs of Ram, go XP!. I am looking to play new games in DX9 like unreal3 just want to make sure, my CPU is ok. I've found very little on this CPU that is not extreamly abstract. thanks for the help.

why get the 7950? too old. ive heard that 1 m8800gtx can beat sli 7950. T7200 is good enough, games are gpu intensive, anything around 2 ghz and a 4mb cache is good enough.

GPU wise, I have read a lot that says the 8' series GPU's are not as good as the 7series with higher rezes. and I am looking at the cost side too. I am planing on upgrading someday to DX10 stuff. I've heard alienware is great for that kinda of stuff. ty for the CPU input.

Why do people buy gaming laptopss...lan-parties? Anyway the 7950 was never really that good at all. Bump up to the 8800 series at least. The 9800s are out by the way. Have fun :)

the hightest GPU you can order the m9750 is the SLI 8600GT, I'm going for a XP config, so the 7950's are fine. My life requires a laptop, if I was to choose I would get a desktop. back to Subject, seems like the t7200 2.0, prolly going to get that.

Because price DOES matter.

While I can appreciate the newest Clevo based systems, they start at $2200. The Alienware M9750 was a top performer 18 months ago and is now available with a 8700M GT GPU starting at $1300. Dressed up, it's still well under $2000.

That said, is there a chart comparing MXM GPUs?

8 series are rather mediocre EXCEPT for the 8800's (of any variety). However, an 8800 of any variety will FLATTEN the 7950 any day of the week, at any res.
