I connect my Sanyo HD 1270x720 native resolution projector to my computer to play DVDs.
My computer has a nVidia GeForce FX 5900 with a VGA and a DVI socket.
I have a monitor on the VGA socket and I can easily set 1270x720 resolution for the second output to the projector.
Up until now I used a VGA cable with DVI-to-VGA adapter and the results are pretty good.
I am aware that I would remain all digital but would I get a considerable advantage connecting PC and projector systems with a DVI-HDMI cable?
Thanks in advance.

While you may get a slightly better picture with DVI, the only way to really know is to try it out. Some equipment has issues with custom resolutions (like 1270x720) and DVI. If the projector behaves correctly, this will not be a problem, but if it only tells the video card that it can do 1280x720p, then there may be a problem getting the video card to use the custom mode. I'd suggest trying it out... if it doesn't work well, just return the DVI cable, and no harm no foul.
