479 mPGA socket question

Hey guys my uncle bought me a cheap laptop yesterday and it has a Celeron M 530 @ 1.73GHz and the socket is a 479, 940GM Chipsets, the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S7403, my question is... can i put another processor on it?? like a C2D???

I upgraded my Acer Laptop with a 940GML chipset from a Celeron 1.6 to a Core 2 Duo 1.83 T5600 Works great, better battery life, and it runs cooler. My socket was also a 479 mPGA. I had to do some research on the motherboard, the Bios turned out to be the limiting factor based on what processors it would recognize. I warn you that replacing a processor in a laptop is not easy and very risky. Hope that helps.

So I guess you had a "Celeron M 400" or "Celeron M 500" cpu?

I my case, I'm researching on an upgrade from the current “Pentium M” to some dual core cpu, which unfortunately seems to be impossible.
I'm still hoping there might be some rare variant of a dual core cpu that does work in mPGA478C sockets? (Well, probably not, but maybe ...)

BTW, “CPU-Z” identifies my cpu socket as “Socket 479 mPGA”, which isn't specifically wrong, but useless nonetheless, because this includes both “mPGA478C” and “Socket M”. And these aren't compatible at all (see quote above). So you have to have a closer look!
