MP3 recording from PA System

We have recently purchased an MP3 recorder to make CD's of speakers. I
purchased necessary jacks from Radio Shack, but on playback there is a
big hum. What I think is happening is we are only getting a mono
recording resulting in the hum on the dead channel. Is there any way
to solder the one channel into the mono jack as to get sound on both
channels? Any other assistance would be appreciated!

RS has cables that can convert a single mono cable into two for input to a
stereo device. Go back and talk to their *experts*, they may be able to help
you out.

It's also possible that you have a ground loop that is causing the hum.

Given that you needed so much help with the mono/stereo problem,
trouble-shooting a ground loop problem seems like way more technology than
you can handle. If the stereo/mono cable from RS doesn't fix the problem,
get some outside competent technical audio help to come on-site.

Then you would hear the hum only on one channel.

Is that the case?

How do you connect the recorder to the PA?

What kind of recorder?

Are you connected to the mic jacks of the recorder or the line in jacks?
