Hi, All:

I had the notorius JBL PB12 250W active subwoofer which died within the 1
year warranty. 3 months after the serviceman replace the capacitors, now it
had another problem: The signal light keeps switching on and off every
second...

My question: Is there a aftermarket power module that can drive this
subwoofer? It's doesn't need to be installed inside the box, I don't care
about the cosmetic as far as it works.

Any idea is welcome.
Thanks,

HEB

Do you need a power module at all? If this thing doesn't use positional
feedback, you could just run the lines from the driver to a Speakon jack
on the side, and use an external amp and crossover.

Very probably. Flat-plate subwoofer amplifiers are commonly
available, and you can probably find one which has appropriate
combiner/crossover circuitry to allow you to match yout JBL's driver
to the rest of your system.

One source is www.partsexpress.com - click on "Speaker Building" in
the Categories pane at the left, and then on "Subwoofer Amplifiers" in
the "Cabinets and Kits" pane on the right.

If its the model i think it is , it has a hybrid digital amp module
that is no longer available. Now, if its not too far out of warranty
and your the original owner, call JBL customer serve. They will cut you
a deal on a new one. Those aftermarket powered sub amplifier modules are
at least $150+, so i would call JBL first and tell them how disappointed
you were and see what kind of deal you can get on a replacement one.
