I'm considering getting the -Z2. It's in the right price range, and has
the features I think I want, particularly the 10x optical. I'd appreciate
comments from anyone who actually has one or has used one enough to judge
its pros and cons.

Thanks.

I had one for a while. I loved the zoom, the macro and the super macro
modes. Most of the shots credited to "Gary" (me) on this site were
taken using that camera (the ones credite to "Ben" were taken with a
Nikon D70):

What I didn't like was the usual pro-sumer problems. Shutter lag and
overall slowness, electronic manual focus. I decided to upgrade to a
DSLR about 9 months after buying it.

You may want to look into the Z3. It's got 12x zoom plus anti-shake
(well worth the extra $$ in my opinion).

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. Those were very nice pictures. I'm being tempted to
stretch my budget and consider the Z3. Hadn't considered the shake problem.
