Good deal on wireless bridge for use with Tivo

On www.woot.com today (until they sell out), they're selling a wireless
gaming adapter (essentially a wireless/ethernet bridge) *and* a regular
wireless USB adapter for $50.00 total. Pretty good deal, and the game
adapter will allow the Tivo to be hooked into your wireless network at
802.11g speeds in conjunction with an USB ethernet adapter.

I don't believe that USB adaptor is supported as USB2 on TiVo.

In fact, not listed as tested at all with TiVo

No the adapter is probably not, I didn't think it was. But the game
adapter doesn't *have* to be listed as compatible, it'll work with any
Ethernet port (you would need to get a separate USB-to-Ethernet adapter
if you want to use it with your Tivo). And it's difficult to find a
game adapter anywhere for under $70-$80, much less bundled with an extra
USB-wireless adapter.

802.11g usb wireless adapters compatible with Tivo are still pretty
rare, so a game adapter + usb-ethernet adapter is still the easiest way
to hook your Tivo up at above 802.11b speeds wirelessly (a number of
people on this board have it hooked up this way).

The limiting factor is the TiVo support of the USB adapter which is why I
linked the list.

USB1.1 supports two speeds, 1.5 and 12 Mbps. Connecting that to g or even
gigabit won't help.

USB2 supports up to 480Mbps. But you must use a USB2 adaptor supported by
TiVo to get it.

Absolutely, so you'd use an adapter like the compatible USB200M
USB2-to-Ethernet adapter in conjuction with the gaming adapter
(Ethernet-to-802.11g) to connect. Do you get it now? How about a picture?

Tivo --> USB2.0/Ethernet Adapter --> Gaming adapter (Ethernet/802.11g)

You still won't get full 802.11g transfer speeds from TTG unless you
hack it because of the encryption and processor limitations.

But the deal on the gaming adapter was one day only, it's over now.
