Hi,

I have a Samsung WS32A10 CRT connected via component to DVD and HD
settop box (Australian standards).

My problem is that both TV and DVD images appear slightly zoomed. It
is not much but very notiocable with subtitle tracks where the lower
half of the line of text will be off the screen.

I have noticed plasma screens in the local shop with the same issues.
In this case there were several displays, presumably with the`same
input showing the same image but there was variation in the "zoom"
level of the image.

I had to spend an hour or so inside the service menus of my Samsung
2795HF before the geometry was even close to reasonable. Oh, it looked
tolerable on SD material with a 480i or 480p signal, but on 1080i HD
material it had some definite distortion that became extremely noticeable
when signals were "pillarboxed" as I then had a complete SD raster in the
middle of my screen. It was not rectangular at all. It had severe
pincushion problems (in reverse, actually). But a little adjustment
cleaned it right up. Don't try this, though, unless you have a fair idea
what you're doing. And write down all the settings' default values
before you tweak anything.
