Any comments on Hitachi's new line of RP's due to come out soon? A newbie, I
am, so can someone explain some of these upgrades from the VS810's? What is
LCoS? Should I wait for the new line? Will Hitachi address the blotch issue
and glare problems with their new sets?

JVC's D-ILA sets use this same techology: Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS).

I saw a Sony 70" RP that uses LCOS - the picure was quite impressive - and
there were no (or way less) issues with viewing the screen from other than
dead center that I normally seem to see with an RP set.

Are you sure it was LCOS? Sony's use LCD rear projection, didn't think
they had an LCOS set. LCOS is liquid crystal on silicon which is different
from standard liquid crystal.

See:

Their high end Qualia line uses LCoS, which Sony calls SXRD. I've seen it
at the Home Entertainment Show, and it's pretty spectacular. 'Course, for
$13K, it had better be.

Brillian has a mighty fine 720p LCoS set... the "new" lower msrp is 5999
tho...

For a decent review: http://www.tvauthority.com/pdf/6501mb.pdf

**I do not work for TVA, I dont get a cut. They're just nice people. And I've
been looking for a set to replace my horrible Sony GWII 60xbr800 for over 6
months now, and I'm leaning (about 75%) towards the Brillian American made
LCoS set vs (25%) the new Mits 1080p 73 incher -- but it's a dlp.

As Charles points out, it's the Qualia. (I just couldn't remember the name
at post time.
