ISO app to print graphics twice the size

I teach grade three in primary school and am very artistically challenged. My only salvation is the little bit of technical skills that I have. I am looking for a program that will help me print an 8.5x11" photo at twice the size. I know this will mean printing 4 pieces of paper, if that is helpful to understand what I want to do. I use OpenOffice now - also have access to MS Office. Will one of these programs to it? Is there some open source program that will do this for me? I also want to be able to print text this large as well, to make signs and banners.
