I'm not sure if this is the correct place, but anyhow.

I'm on the search for some software that I can use on my home PC (win 7) and home media/file-server (WHS 2012).

What I want to achieve is being able to log-in (securely of course) from another location through a web browser/app and be able to access/read/write/download files.

A log-in/password system is necessary to keep the files private.

Anyone know of some software like this?
~ Jay.

EDIT: Nothing like Team viewer/screen sharing applications.

Do you know Dropbox ? It is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. This means that any file you save to your Dropbox will automatically save to all your computers, phones and even the Dropbox website.

Dropbox website: www.dropbox.com

Dropbox also makes it super easy to share with others, whether you're a student or professional, parent or grandparent. Even if you accidentally spill a latte on your laptop, have no fear! You can relax knowing that Dropbox always has you covered, and none of your stuff will ever be lost.

I have dropbox for small files and I backup to AWS.

I came across Ajaxplorer and will probably use it.

The main use for this is the be able to see what files I have located on my home servers while I'm out.
